STAR Bonds - Did you know?

Did you know?

That the 3.1 acres that the Dodge City Community College sold to the City for the Power Center Retail Project was critical for this project for the following reasons:  1. The additional acreage allowed for a larger project than just Sutherlands Home Improvement Store.  Three lots will be available in front of the home improvement store, which would help us attract national retail stores and/or restaurants, which will produce additional sales tax revenue.  2.  The sales tax produced by Sutherlands and the three lots will helps us complete the expansion of Boot Hill Museum.  The sales tax proceeds will enable Boot Hill Museum to expand by approximately 12,500 square feet.  This expansion will include construction of a new building with fixed exhibit space and additional improvements designed to host traveling and temporary exhibits as well as special events.  This expansion will allow Boot Hill Museum to display artifacts that are currently in its possession in a more dynamic and interactive manner as well as provide more space to properly support the artifacts and engage its patrons.  Boot Hill Museum has been the anchor of Dodge City's tourism industry for decades, but it is at a crossroads and requires reinvestment if it is to remain a national tourism attraction.  This essential expansion will not be possible without the assistance of STAR Bonds.

*Please note this is an initial concept of the Boot Hill expansion. This may change as the project progresses.
