Forestry and Landscape

The Forestry and Landscape Department is responsible for tree maintenance in parks and public grounds and maintenance of landscape areas. The City Forester is responsible for implementing tree ordinances and policies. Provides for grounds maintenance of Downtown Dodge City.


Maple Grove Cemetery

Provides for the general maintenance of Maple Grove Cemetery consisting of over 170 acres. Maintenance includes regular mowing, implementing the turf management program, repair of irrigation systems and other general duties. Also assists citizens and the local mortuaries with grave site location and other services.

Through a contract with the Scroggins Foundation, cemetery staff is responsible for maintenance of the mausoleum turf and custodial duties.

Mariah Hills Golf Course

Mariah Hills Golf Course is an 18 hole golf course owned and operated by the City of Dodge City. Ground maintenance provides for the mowing, watering, and overall turf care for the golf course. The clubhouse provides additional space for concession operations and pro shop operations. The lower level provides for receptions, meetings and other functions.

Parks and Zoo

Provides maintenance of Wright Park and twenty-two other neighborhood parks throughout the city. Responsibilities include mowing, care of rest rooms, Hoover Pavilion and playground.

Provides and appealing display of animals for the community as well as visitors to the City of Dodge City. The zoo is a significant component of Wright Park, the City's only community park.

Para-TRAN is door-to-door paratransit service available for persons who, because of a disability, are unable to use the D-TRAN Fixed Route Bus Service.  The Para-TRAN service area is within 3/4 mile of D-TRAN routes.  Riders must be certified as eligible to use the service by submitting an application which includes the assessment and signature of a qualified health professional in accordance with the American with Disabilities Act of 1990.  Examples of people who may be eligible are those who, because of a disability, are unable to get on or off a regular bus, walk three city blocks or more to access a fixed route bus stop, read, understand, or follow bus information.The bus is currently being dispatched out of Finney County Dispatch and reservations must be made 24 hours in advance by calling 877-323-3626.  

The D-TRAN Fixed Route Bus Service operates three routes -blue, red, green- hourly beginning at 6:00 am and ending at 6:00 pm Mondy through Friday.

The R-TRAN is for Regional Demand Response Service outside the 3/4 mile Para-TRAN zone, and up to two miles beyond the city limits.  On a first come first served basis, anyone may schedule a door-to-door R-TRAN ride if the ride's origin or destination is beyone the 3/4 mile Para-TRAN zone and within a two mile radius of city limits.  If moving from one location to anoher while in town, door-to-door rides are available only to passengers with an approved Paratransit application.  All others are required to use D-TRAN.
