Funding
All expenses and start-up costs of the Auxiliary program were funded by the members themselves for the first three years. During this developmental stage, volunteers felt that since this "citizen-assisted community policing program was unique and unproven, there were willing to provide personal funding to ensure its success. They used personal vehicles for patrol and purchased uniforms, radios, and other equipment through local grants, strong community and business support and personal funds.
With a very successful program, the City of Dodge City and its Commissioners provided line item funding in the Police Department budget for fiscal years 2000 to date, facilitating further equipment and expansion of the Citizen Police Auxiliary.
