Lateral Transfer Program For Police Officer
All Lateral transfers will be based on State, County, or City Law Enforcement. Prior military, corrections, and federal law enforcement experience will not be eligible. All transfers would have to be eligible for Kansas reciprocity through KLETC. If KLETC will not accept their state certification then they must start out at the beginning of the pay scale as a new recruit.
Experience will be based on comparable population and comparable call load to Dodge City and years of service. Officers who come from an agency that is smaller and/or has less of a call load will be evaluated and placed in the pay scale by city administration.
For every two years of qualifying law enforcement experience the transfer would go one step up on the pay scale. No transfer would go past step 5on the pay scale. (i.e. at four years of experience step 2, six years of experience step 3, at eight years of experience step 4 and with 10 or more years of experience step 5)
The hiring process will remain the same for Police Officer lateral transfers; a written test, oral board, background investigation, psychological test, medical physical, and CVSA.
