Ford County Ranks Top Five in Manufacturing | May 17, 2023
Ford County recently ranked in the top five Manufacturing counties in the entire state according to Kansas Industry Drivers magazine from the Center for Economic Development and Business Research (CEDBR) and Wichita State University (WSU). Other counties in the top five included Sedgwick County, Johnson County, Wyandotte County, and Shawnee County.
Ford County also had the highest Employment LQ surpassing Sedgwick County, Johnson County, Wyandotte County, and Shawnee County. Currently, Ford County has an Employment LQ of 4.25, which is four times the national average. The location quotient (LQ) is a way to measure the relative concentration within the area. As a result, we have the 4th highest annual wages out of the top manufacturing counties in Kansas.
Ford County is currently ranked 1st in the Southwest Kansas Region with the highest Employment, Employment LQ, and Average Wage. This information establishes Ford County as the leading Manufacturing county in Southwest Kansas. In addition, the information indicates that Ford County will continue growing and provide great-paying jobs.
