[ARCHIVED] Statement on Diversity, Acceptance and Tolerance

The City of Dodge City is and has been for many years, committed to recognizing, honoring, and embracing the diversity of our community. Our City is home to residents of many different backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities, religions, and beliefs. We strive to be welcoming for all who wish to make Dodge City their home. We accept them and their sincere efforts to contribute to the vibrancy of our great City. The principles set forth by the First Amendment to the Constitution established our country as a place of tolerance. We must adhere to and commit to these principles within our community.

The City supports the right to peaceably assemble, and for individuals to stand for what they believe in. However, we do not stand with nor give support to those individuals or groups who wish to undermine and speak against the acceptance and tolerance of the diversity that our community was built upon and continues to cultivate. Our hope is for a future free from prejudice and intolerance and we will help lead the community to achieve our goals.
