During each tournament, umpires are given food passes, free water and Gatorade, air conditioned space to cool off between games and more. Umpires do need to provide everything necessary to do their job that day (clothing, equipment, etc.)
Umpires are paid well and paid via check after each tournament. Pay varies depending on how many games they umpire per day, etc. Each umpire will be paired with at least one other umpire during games. Only in dire situations would there be a chance they are by themselves.
Umpires are able to get certification through USSSA but most umpires at Legends are certified through KSHSAA as well. Jacob Miller also has programs that umpires can be put through to help gain umpiring knowledge.
