Among other emergency response responsibilities fire suppression operates under three 24 hour shifts out of two stations. Each shift consists of a Captain (shift commander), two Engineers (fire apparatus driver operators), and five firefighters. All fire personnel are highly trained in the latest firefighting and rescue techniques to ensure safe and efficient mitigation of emergencies within the City of Dodge City. Personnel also are trained in basic technical rescue, hazardous materials operations and are all Emergency Medical Technicians.
